5 ways to create faux finishes with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan
June 8, 2016
1- Gold Gilding
Adding a few light strokes of gold gilding creates a hint of glam to each piece and brings out the details of the wood!
2- Blending Wax
Dipping your cloth into clear wax and rubbing over your dark or black wax creates a softer version of each finish.
3- White Wax
If you love texture and a weathered look, white wax is perfect to add on top of any finish!
4- Silver Gilding
Brighten and dress up any piece by brushing a little silver gilding on the edges of a finished project!
5- Black Wax
Our new favorite! The black wax sets the tone for a finished piece and we love seeing the darkness in the grooves, nooks, and crannies of a piece!
We are always playing with new techniques, different materials, and layering all of the above! The possibilities are endless when it comes to paint and finishes.
With all of the questions we are asked on a daily basis about paint we have decided to now offer walk in demonstrations on Wednesdays from 10:30-12:30. Come, chat, and watch my Mom, Gail or myself paint with different techniques of YOUR choice! Get hands on and learn how to do them yourself! We will be answering all of your burning questions along with debunking some painting myths! So grab your morning coffee and come on in!
